I am quite possibly The Body Shop‘s biggest fan. Forget food, clothes, and alcohol, I blow all my cash on skincare. Oh yes, I know how to live.
A few months ago, my skin decided it wanted a change from being it’s usual oily self and did a full 360 on me, becoming dry. My natural response to this was, of course, to get myself to The Body Shop ASAP. A mere 30 minutes later and I had bought (way too) many products, amongst them was the Aqua Boost Sorbet from the Vitamin E range. In the past, I’ve opted for the Moisture Cream from that range.
Having tried and tested both of them, I thought I would share my findings with you all so you can be a lil’ kinder to your bank account than I’ve been with mine.
- Aqua Boost Sorbet
APPEARANCE: 4.5/5 I realise that packaging isn’t important for everyone, but I think that often it can be an indicator of quality. The Body Shop have recently updated a lot of their packaging, making it more simple and sophisticated. I’m into it. As for the product itself, the moisturiser was fairly clear with lots of white pigments – which I’m guessing has something to do with the aquasphere technology? Anyway, it’s pretty.
SMELL: 5/5 When it comes to facial skincare products, I prefer them not to be scented, so if you’re the same then you’ll love this one. It has a very slight oaty smell that I really like.
CONSISTENCY: 4/5 The formula is water based, as the name suggests, so it’s thinner than a usual moisturiser. That said, a little goes a long way with this one! I think the sorbet is definitely light enough to be used in the summer months too. What’s more, it’s paraben free.
OVERALL: 13.5/15 I’d say it’s pretty obvious that this is my favourite out of the two! The Aqua Boost Sorbet kept my face moisturised all day (it claims 48h, I can’t vouch for that though because I apply a different moisturiser at night) without making me look oily, and I loved the cooling effect it had – and maintained – on my sensitive skin. I ended up using all of this, and would definitely repurchase it! - Moisture Cream
APPEARANCE: 4/5 This one has The Body Shop’s older packaging but, again, it’s super simple. The moisturiser looks like any other moisturiser with a slight pink tint to it. Exciting stuff, I know.
SMELL: 2.5/5 Whilst I’m not mad at it, I can’t say I like it either. I love the Vitamin E range because most of the products have that oaty smell or they just don’t smell at all, but this one smells kind of subtly like sun cream? Not feeling it.
CONSISTENCY: 4/5 I’m going to channel Goldilocks in saying it’s not too thick or too thin, it’s just right. Unlike it’s sorbet counterpart, this one’s oil based meaning it did make me break out a few times at first, but it did also make my skin super soft and smooth so I’m not complaining. The Moisture Cream does contain parabens.
OVERALL: 10.5/15 This one does the job, but I can’t say I find myself reaching for it very often, and I know that I wouldn’t repurchase having now tried the sorbet. However, I think it would be perfect for anyone who isn’t prone to breakouts.
Please take into account that everyone’s skin is different: just because it didn’t work for me, doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t work for you, and vice versa. Let me know down below what your favourite Body Shop products are! This post wasn’t sponsored in any way (although, @ The Body Shop, maybe next time?).
Great review! I literally finished my vitamin e moisture cream this morning, now I’d like to try the aqua boost next! I agree on the smell of the moisture cream, it reminds me of calamine lotion
